Jacob Collier’s newest Single – “Bridge Over Troubled Water”

Soulful—not a word that’s always associated with Jacob Collier’s hyper-complex, and cerebral genre of music. This new release is Jacob’s foray into gospel, leveraging his genius-level vocal arrangements to backup the uber-talented Tori Kelly and John Legend. It’s different from anything he’s ever made, and it wants to make you feel the spirit. How successful it is in doing that entirely depends on your tolerance for outside-the-box harmony and harmony that is more fun to think about than it is to listen to.

It’s undeniably competent and impressive, as is expected from Jacob, but for a genre that Jacob should thrive in—one soaked with harmony and energy—it falls flat in accomplishing the primary goal of music: make the listener feel something.

Jacob releases the single in advance of his album, Djesse Vol. 4, the final installment in his 4-part Djesse series.

“jerrord”- Wes Coeur Review

Wes Coeur’s jerrord is a masterclass in duality. On the surface, it’s an effortlessly cool slice of electro-pop—driven by a thick, pulsating synth bass and topped with Wes’ Auto-Tuned melodies that glide somewhere between playful croon and knowing smirk. But dig a little deeper, and you’ll notice how chalant it really is. The production is polished to perfection, every layer meticulously placed, and the music video oozes style with a clarity that betrays how much thought went into it. This isn’t some slapdash bedroom pop experiment; this is calculated cool.
