You may have heard of Michael Bland through his work with Vulfpeck on “Hero Town.” He plays some of the deepest pocket you’ve ever heard and one of the tastiest, most understated drum solos of all time. His style is one of a kind, and he’s unmistakable in the first beats of “(Br)other”
You might know Sonny T from his bass and guitar work with Cory Wong and The Wongnotes. He’s one of the funkiest bass players alive. Victor Wooten’s slapping, Richard Bona’s sing-playing, Jaco’s tonal presence – he can do it all.
Their musical journey, from working with artists like Nick Jonas the Administration to Prince & The New Power Generation led to the creation of their new project, (BR)OTHERS. The name was inspired by Prince’s comment likening them to “aliens in the same pod.” Bland says Sonny T is the “closest thing to a brother [he’s] ever had.” There’s something magnetic about the dynamic of funk rhythm sections – they always sound better when the players are close. The duo’s bond and musical prowess shape their unique sound. Michael’s renowned drumming talent and Sonny’s musical background in Minneapolis bands set the stage for this debut single, released under Hygh Tension Records. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the duo, allowing fans to experience their combined voices and original music for the first time.
Fans of funk rejoice.
