Citizens of Yeah!!!'s new single, "3 Little Piggies," offers an unexpected mix of angular guitars and sharp commentary on the rising cost of living in the UK. Led by Newcastle-based multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Womack, the track paints a stark, albeit playful, picture of a world where wolves loom large—both metaphorically and literally.

Musically, "3 Little Piggies" plays with dissonance and melody, combining tight, jagged guitars with a driving bassline. There's a clear nod to post-punk influences like The Pixies and Slint, but the sound doesn’t sit still long enough to feel derivative. Womack’s production, recorded entirely at his home studio, keeps things raw and unpolished in a way that feels intentional, allowing the song’s urgency to shine through.

The real hook here, however, lies in the concept. Womack’s lyrics take the familiar children’s story and twist it into a reflection on financial stress and housing struggles in modern Britain. Backing vocals by Daniel Clifford (Amateur Ornithologist) and wolf howls in the outro give the song a quirky edge, adding to the surreal commentary. The guest vocals from seven-year-old Fearne only add to the offbeat charm.

“Who wouldn’t want a song about mortgage rates and wolves?” Womack quips, and that sums it up perfectly. It’s a track that balances sharp wit with musical precision, standing out as a unique statement in an often crowded genre.
