“Take a Bite” - beabadoobee: Giving Into Temptation All Over Again
Artist: beabadoobee Single: Take A Bite Genre: Indie Pop, Pop Rock, Alternative Rock Release Date: May 9th, 2024
Beabadoobee can’t help but “Take a Bite” in her newest single – a track about giving in again, and again… even though you know it’s bad for you. Bea takes some accountability, admitting that she’s living in fantasyland but is finding it too comfortable to leave. It’s hard to take off the rose-tinted glasses, and even more difficult when you love how they look.
Bea’s vocals are gentle but expressive, sliding through the melody with a little grit. Her vocal control is accentuated by the wordy verses and complicated rhythms. Alongside producer Rick Rubin, Bea tries her hand at a slightly different sound. “Take a Bite” sounds more produced then some of her previous discography, but it isn’t a bad thing. It adds a new clarity to her music while preserving all of the grunge nuance and intensity of her idols.
With the loveliness of a melody that matches its lyrics, Bea creates excitement for her upcoming album set to release this August.
You may have heard of Michael Bland through his work with Vulfpeck on “Hero Town.” He plays some of the deepest pocket you’ve ever heard and one of the tastiest, most understated drum solos of all time. His style is one of a kind, and he’s unmistakable in the first beats of “(Br)other”
There’s something about candid, straightforward honesty in lyrics that can cut deeper than overly abstract metaphors and symoblism and “what did they mean by that?” ‘Mr. Liar’ is a track that isn’t trying to dress anything up. The listener knows exactly what the singer is going through - it hits.
The most interesting part about this track, though, is the artist behind it. Check out Tende Kasha’s biography:
Through this project, there’s still a sense of the person behind the thing. It offers a unique perspective on both the genre and the medium, albeit with an unsettling edge. Luma Fade's work demands attention, promising further evolution and innovation.

While the album’s production and performances are nothing short of incredible, his album received a significant boost in popularity after a viral appearance on Jimmy Kimmel. Imperfections, like his cracked voice and slightly out-of-tune guitar, enhance the potency of his performance. Amidst the backdrop of moody lighting, the haunting melody of a soprano saxophone adds to the surreal, ethereal ambiance. Fans cite this as their favorite rendition of the song, by far.
Kendrick Lamar fires back at Drake's diss tracks with "Euphoria," addressing their feud head-on. Lamar brings up Drake’s use of AI Tupac, calls him dishonest, and mentions J. Cole, Pusha T. He goes in hard, and there’s a rumored 19-minute unreleased version of the track. Kendrick really hates this guy. The response has garnered praise from Jay Rock and Punch, while Metro Boomin indirectly acknowledges it.
We sat down with Leo Sawikin to discuss his latest single, his collaboration with renowned producer Phil Ek, and his journey in crafting a distinct sound as a solo artist.
The news came on May 4th, after a handful of venues set to host the band announced the cancellation. Chicago music venue Empty Bottle reported the cancellations as a result of “personal reasons within the touring party.” At the time of writing, no further word has come out as to the reasons behind the tour’s cancellation, leaving fans to speculate about the artist behind the persona’s wellbeing.
Hello, I’m Matilde Bois, a sophomore at the University of Washington studying English. I’m interning here at Da Da Da Music to apply my musical experience to my academic studies. I’ve been a lover of music for as long as I can remember, and adore how deeply you can experience music through writing about it. In my future, I hope to be a writer, but also hope to find myself in the music industry in some capacity. In my personal music endeavors, I like writing and playing music in the indie-folk genre. As a listener, I love everything, but find my favorites residing in soul, rock, and jazz. Some of my favorite artists are Madison Cunningham, Nat King Cole, and The Beatles!
Childish Gambino surprises us with Atavista, a polished re-release of his 2020 album 3.15.20. Gambino originally released the unfinished record during the Covid-19 pandemic as a rushed love letter to his apocalypse anxiety and to his fans. Needing a master and a mix, Gambino resurfaced the entire album and dropped it alongside a list of tour dates. Atavista is an intimate album that somehow maintains oodles of mystique and disconnectivity. The words to the songs are new, but the album's sound isn’t anything that we haven’t heard from Gambino before.
