On February 22, commemorating the anniversary of their split, Daft Punk organized a special event featuring a streaming of their iconic work, “Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem.” Originally released in 2003 alongside their album “Discovery,” the animated sci-fi film began airing at 5:22 p.m. Eastern Time on Twitch.
Collaborating with Cédric Hervet, Daft Punk conceptualized “Interstella 5555” and brought on board Kazuhisa Takenouchi, known for his work on Dragon Ball Z, to direct the project. The film narrates the tale of the duo’s abduction by extraterrestrial rebels and the subsequent rescue mission led by the enigmatic space pilot, Shep. While the hour-long feature has typically been challenging to access via official channels in North America, segments of it were previously showcased in the album’s music videos.
