Artist: Citizens of Yeah!!! Single: 3 Little Piggies Genre: Alternative Rock, New Wave, Post Rock Release Date: September 9th, 2024
Citizens of Yeah!!!’s new single, “3 Little Piggies,” offers an unexpected mix of angular guitars and sharp commentary on the rising cost of living in the UK. Led by Newcastle-based multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Womack, the track paints a stark, albeit playful, picture of a world where wolves loom large—both metaphorically and literally.
Musically, “3 Little Piggies” plays with dissonance and melody, combining tight, jagged guitars with a driving bassline. There’s a clear nod to post-punk influences like The Pixies and Slint, but the sound doesn’t sit still long enough to feel derivative. Womack’s production, recorded entirely at his home studio, keeps things raw and unpolished in a way that feels intentional, allowing the song’s urgency to shine through.
The real hook here, however, lies in the concept. Womack’s lyrics take the familiar children’s story and twist it into a reflection on financial stress and housing struggles in modern Britain. Backing vocals by Daniel Clifford (Amateur Ornithologist) and wolf howls in the outro give the song a quirky edge, adding to the surreal commentary. The guest vocals from seven-year-old Fearne only add to the offbeat charm.
“Who wouldn’t want a song about mortgage rates and wolves?” Womack quips, and that sums it up perfectly. It’s a track that balances sharp wit with musical precision, standing out as a unique statement in an often crowded genre.

You may have heard of Michael Bland through his work with Vulfpeck on “Hero Town.” He plays some of the deepest pocket you’ve ever heard and one of the tastiest, most understated drum solos of all time. His style is one of a kind, and he’s unmistakable in the first beats of “(Br)other”
There’s something about candid, straightforward honesty in lyrics that can cut deeper than overly abstract metaphors and symoblism and “what did they mean by that?” ‘Mr. Liar’ is a track that isn’t trying to dress anything up. The listener knows exactly what the singer is going through – it hits.
The most interesting part about this track, though, is the artist behind it. Check out Tende Kasha’s biography:
Through this project, there’s still a sense of the person behind the thing. It offers a unique perspective on both the genre and the medium, albeit with an unsettling edge. Luma Fade’s work demands attention, promising further evolution and innovation.

Childish Gambino surprises us with Atavista, a polished re-release of his 2020 album 3.15.20. Gambino originally released the unfinished record during the Covid-19 pandemic as a rushed love letter to his apocalypse anxiety and to his fans. Needing a master and a mix, Gambino resurfaced the entire album and dropped it alongside a list of tour dates. Atavista is an intimate album that somehow maintains oodles of mystique and disconnectivity. The words to the songs are new, but the album’s sound isn’t anything that we haven’t heard from Gambino before.
