“Sexy to Someone” - Clairo: Lust Will Set You Free

Artist: Clairo Single: Sexy To Someone Genre: Bedroom Pop, Indie Pop Release Date: May 23rd, 2024

Clairo released a new single this past week as an introduction to her new upcoming album “Charm”. “Sexy to Someone” is a lively but leisurely stroll down the lane of desire. The new single has a whole new sound that we haven’t really gotten from Clairo before. While it is still classic-Clairo, “Sexy to Someone” doesn’t really seem like it would fit onto any of her past albums. Because of this, we can expect the new album to hold some surprises for us.

The new track is relatable and a little sorrowful as Clairo talks about how much easier life feels when you’re desirable. An expression of insecurity, the need for a reality check, and the love of limelight, “Sexy to Someone” is the anthem for people who just want to be wanted.

The song is mixed to perfection and nicely balanced. Clairo’s soft voice melds well with the drums, and synthy flute sounds. She utilizes a lot of the same recording techniques she has in previous albums, but uses them to create a new sound. With one of the best new releases of the month, Clairo creates excitement for the new album.

Matilde Bois

Hello, I’m Matilde Bois, a sophomore at the University of Washington studying English. I’m interning here at Da Da Da Music to apply my musical experience to my academic studies. I’ve been a lover of music for as long as I can remember, and adore how deeply you can experience music through writing about it. In my future, I hope to be a writer, but also hope to find myself in the music industry in some capacity. In my personal music endeavors, I like writing and playing music in the indie-folk genre. As a listener, I love everything, but find my favorites residing in soul, rock, and jazz. Some of my favorite artists are Madison Cunningham, Nat King Cole, and The Beatles!
